Reports indicate that during yesterday’s clashes between the Sudanese army and the rapid reaction forces that took place at the Khartoum International Airport, a plane belonging to the United Nations was destroyed.

According to the official reports of the TASS news agency, the broadcast images show the burnt parts of the fuselage of the UN plane, but it is not yet clear which person or group is responsible for the destruction of the plane.

On the other hand, Reuters news agency also reported that a plane belonging to Saudi Airlines was also targeted at Khartoum airport. It is said that the passengers, crew and staff were transferred from the airport to the Saudi Embassy in Khartoum.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres strongly condemned the “escalating conflict between the Rapid Support Force and the Sudanese Armed Forces in Sudan”.

In a statement, Guterres’ spokesman called for an immediate end to the conflict in Sudan and emphasized his words. The statement also said: “The Secretary-General calls on the heads of the Rapid Support Force and the Sudanese Armed Forces to immediately cease hostilities, restore calm and start dialogue to resolve the current crisis.” “Any further escalation in the war will have a devastating effect on civilians and exacerbate the country’s already precarious situation.”
