The local Iraqi authorities reported the occurrence of a terrible fire in a wedding hall in the town of “Al-Hamadaniyeh” located in Nineveh province in the north of the country, killing and injuring more than 300 people.
Iraq’s official news agency announced that at least 100 people died and more than 150 were injured following a fire at a wedding on Tuesday night (September 26). But moments after the publication of this news, other news sources reported an increase in the number of victims of this incident.
In an interview with Al-Jazeera, Nineveh Governor Najam Al-Jubouri announced the number of victims at 114 dead and around 200 wounded.
On the other hand, at the same time as this big fire, the Prime Minister of Iraq ordered the ministers of interior and health to mobilize all their efforts to provide relief to the injured and to send medical teams to help treat the injured and survivors as quickly as possible.
On the morning of September 27, the Iraqi Red Crescent Organization announced the increase in the number of victims and announced that more than 450 people were killed and injured in this fire.
The Iraqi Civil Defense announced the cause of the fire based on the initial information obtained and the video that is available, the use of fireworks in Iraqi ceremonies and the expansion of its scope.

It spread and had high casualties.
A well-informed Iraqi security source also announced the launch of an air bridge to provide relief to the injured and transport them to the hospital. Nineveh operation commander announced that nine people from the officials of Al-Hamdanieh hall were arrested after this tragedy and the arrest warrant for the owner of this hall, who is a fugitive, has also been issued.
Some social media users also report that the bride and groom and their family members were killed in this fire.
